April 17: Only Your Mind

Your brain unlocks the letters;

your mind unlocks their meaning.

Your brain can puzzle

with sounds, but your mind

with its keen, tense intuition

will surpass the senses:

If you only read for your brain,

your mind is seldom transfixed...

If only sense is in your brain,

your mind will never make

the meaning it most desires.

You must explore, probe

past those borders, beyond…

…for your brain can piece-

together-letters, but only

your mind can learn language.
